RESEARCH AREAS
- Soil erosion in both agricultural (vineyards) and post forest fire contexts.
- Land cover change mapping and modelling and implications for soil erosion, runoff and forest fire risks.
- Remote sensing applied to post forest fire soil erosion mapping and runoff risks.

CURRENT RESEARCH
- My original research focus was on soil crusting and infiltration. Progressively I moved toward soil erosion processes and then soil erosion mapping, initially in agricultural contexts and more recently in post forest fire situations.

- Forest fires have an immediate and major impact on runoff and erosion processes, so a rapid and accurate response is necessary to put key emergency measures in place. In addition to these practical considerations, basic water infiltration and soil erosion processes are profoundly affected by a severe fire. I’m therefore interested in both the applied and fundamental issues related to post fire runoff generation and soil erosion.

- Most recently, I have turned to land use/cover change (LUCC) mapping and modelling and am currently working on estimating the impacts of land use change on soil erosion, runoff, and forest fire ignition risks for 3 catchments with air photos from about 1950-2011.
